Brno (CZ)Castle courts, a boat, and the Tugendhat villaArt Cocktail is launching its third tour of the Czech Republic. This time the itinerary features the castle of the Princes of Liechtenstein in Lednice, a boat cruise, and the Tugendhat villa. The tour‘s starting point will be in Břeclav on the sculpture boat - designed by the sculptor and designer Vít Novotný himself. From there, the tour proceeds to the rivers March, Thaya and Danube before arriving at the final destination, the Tugendhat villa in Brno. This building, constructed by Mies van der Rohe (1886–1969) for the textile industrialist Fritz Tugendhat, is considered one of the most important European structures by a Bauhaus architect. The villa will soon be closed to the public in order to carry out planned, and controversial, renovations. In other words, you should seize this opportunity! Sat., May 1, 2004, 8:45 a.m. to Sun. May 2, 2004, about 7:00 p.m. Related external links: |
